Confined Space Entry Equipment

In the UK, 'Confined Space Regulations 1997' states that "Confined Space means any place including any chamber, tank, vat, silo, pit, trench, pipe, sewer, flue, well or similar space in which, by virtue of its enclosed nature, there arises a reasonably for seeable specified risk"

Confined Spaces must NOT be entered without full recognition of possible dangers, proper safety training and protective equipment necessary to ensure a users safety. Note:- Tripods, Quadpods, Monopods and Davits can be regarded as anchorages to which can be attached combinations of fall arrest & recovery blocks and winches.

Note: If the primary means of entry into a confined space is by ladders or steps it is acceptable for an operative to be connected to a Fall Arrest & Recovery Block. In the event of a fall or incapacitation the operative can be raised or lowered to safety. Note this system must NOT be used for man-riding i.e. raising or lowering in suspension unless its a rescue situation.
